When I worked for ANT (Association of Nail Tech's) Our boss would organise once a month for a lasy to come in, she did different therapies, ear candels, head massage, back massage etc. We were all allowed 1 each. Also on Friday (payday) we would all go down the pub at lunch, he would join us, and be a little relaxed if we were 5 mins late, the office was more relaxed on Friday afternoons. If it was someones birthday he's buy us all a drink at the pub!!
Nice boss=happy workers

I think this is both a legal and moral issue.Legally, if someone is sick and fails to disclose it when applying, there is no legal liability on the employer to look after that employee. In fact they could be sacked for non-disclosure. If an employee is genuiley ill then an emploter could go two ways....the employer can go through the motions and just guarantee that the employee can keep their job. However, and this is what I advocate, a moder, progressive employer can use this as an opportunity to show how caring they are and go out of their way to see that the employee has the best of everything including visits at home from the President of the company. The Sutton Place article is a bad example of how a company should act. I cannot endorse that tyhpe of behaviour at all. I hope they get all the money that is due to them.

TOP TEN INDICATORS THAT YOUR EMPLOYER HAS CHANGED TO A CHEAPER HEALTH
CARE PLAN:

(10) Your annual breast exam is done at Hooters.

(9) Directions to your doctor's office include "Take a left when you
enter the trailer park."

(8) The tongue depressors taste faintly of Fudgesicles.

(7) The only proctologist in the plan is "Gus" from Roto-Rooter.

(6) The only item listed under Preventative Care Coverage is "an apple a
day."

(5) Your primary care physician is wearing the pants you gave to
Goodwill last month.

(4) "The patient is responsible for 200% of out-of-network charges," is
not a typographical error.

(2) Your Prozac comes in different colors with little M's on them.

AND THE NUMBER ONE SIGN YOU'VE JOINED A VERY CHEAP HEALTH CARE PLAN:

The company I work for as 1 first aid trained person to every 25 staff, and they are also there for the customers needs.
Managers get bupa, But under deputy manager nothing.
In fact if you go sick more than 3 times in 6 months you get counselled and warned of the consequences of what can happen to you, If you can' get a dental appointment on your day off and need time to go that is classed as going sick that only leaves two more, too get them scrubbed off you have to have 6 months clear from going sick.
Todays bosses are only worried about profit staff don't come into only that they keep cutting staff.

The more invested in employees health and fitness the more saved in the long run. There is a direct correlation to absences, and disability leave.it is always cheaper to prevent a problem than correct it.

My Employer offers us a slightly discounted private health plan (Leeds Hospital Fund). I have to admit these are really good!

It's not compulsory so we have a choice whether we join the scheme or not.
