Clearly when the top dog, or boss, or politician, or leader of any organised (English spelling) makes an significant error of judgement, prudence would dictate that standing down is the appropriate action to take.

Although the Pope’s recent action was nothing more than to make a quote from history, commonsense and logic would dictate that he made a significant error of judgement in a volatile world fuelled by religious hatred.

Why not apologise and stand down, in the interests of world stability and peace?

The Pope is Pope for life. One cannot stand down nor retire. God chooses and one follows simple as that. One does not even choose to run for Pope. One is elected.

Because this is the time in world history when the truth needs to be spoken, people should not be castigated merely because someone dares to speak the truth and some poeple don't like it.

He should not resign, he should be lauded for doing the "unthinkable", speaking the TRUTH...

I see, and the President of IRAN who says Hitler didn't kill JEws in Ovens or Gas Chambers, when both Russian Communists who are Atheists and American Protestants who are not Catholics and Not JEWS saw this with ther own eyes when THEY liberated Awschwitz.
