US bases in America, of course, are owned by the US military; however, bases overseas are generally rented from the country they are in. This costs the US a great deal of money and I am frankly against so many bases around the world. My attitude is let the countries defend themselves. Take Japan for example. They have a very small military (according to their constitution) and they feel that if they get into trouble the USA will immediately come to their aid. This is also true of S. Korea. The USA has too many troops all over the world. We should bring them back and let the world defend itself.

An "OLD SCHOOL" Japanese video game, I forget the name now, was rushed into production with many syntax errors. This was one of the grammatically incorrect messages you got when the aliens defeated you in the game. It has since become a popular phrase on any number of MMORPGs.
