Shouldn't belief without proof be gaurded against? It is insane, to me, to say that you should believe without proof.

I was going to make a sarcastic remark like: Sure, I can say there is a god, do I get any money to do so or just a couple of points on Answers?
But the fine print changed all that. Empirical evidence would be nice. God coming back and writing a shorter, less barbaric, but more precise gospel would be really great.

Whether I say it or not, I totally believe it with all my being. My beliefs; my faith do not necessitate validation or verification via the "scientific method." If you feel absolutely sure there is not god, why would you even consider contemplating or wanting to debate this question; which according to what you say, might be about nothing?
Jeff, Evolution has not been verified as fact, it is a theory and purely guess work that was based on phentypical features that have been negated by genotypically showing that various species were not correctly "classified" by Darwin and his contemporaries. In turn, it was the catalyst for Social Darwinism, used at the turn of the last century to promote such practices as phrenology, eugenics and adopted by the Nazis who used it to rationalize murdering people with disabilities, then Jews, then Gypsies, People of Color, etc. This has been the legacy of Darwinism. I will stick with my belief in God, thank you very much.

i believe there is god as in Buddhism, the Lord Buddha says you reap what you sow etc....well my father was a ''medium'' thirty-one years ago when i was still in my teens probably when i was 13- 15 years i remember helping my dad get rid of rusty nails and asking those seeking my father's help ridding their body in full view of everyone present waiting for their turn. There was this man my father ask him to bring chinese tea and he brought one in a bottle after my father mumble and make a prayer over the bottle he was ask to gargle and throw out the water into another empty glass and guess what the chinese tea had become black. Everyone present was shock even myself... In another incident there was this lady she had been charmed and could not eat and sleep well my father told her family to bring hard boiled eggs. After the usual prayer my father asked the family to rub the egg on the part she felt very painful they rub the egg on her shoulder, her head and chest...Tell you what this family went to doctor and x-ray never show anything on her. Can you imagine after my father told the family to break open the eggs one by one there was rusty nails big and small. The lady was so happy so relieved she never felt anymore pain after that....well this are some of things i still remembered after all these years there are many more but i need to think...now that my father had passed away all this still lingers in my memory......

there is proof, the question is have you looked at the proof?? No you haven't because you still don't know??? The proof is written in his word, the bible, read it and check out all old ancient history and you will see it lines up, and when you get to acts ch2 you can receive the HOLY SPIRIT from God and know that he is real! Get to work, you missed alot in life so far, its all there I have done the homework and tested it! And you are required to know! The bible says my people are destroyed from LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF ME! do you believe that there is no God?
if you do, how did you know so??
it always goes both ways...
because you cannot prove that there isn't a God...
as much as you cannot prove that there is a God.
it goes the same way whether you believe that
there is God or whether you believe there is no God.
(that is why the idea of being agnostic appeals to
some people... but thats a totally different issue that
we need not discuss in relation to your question)

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing a word about Christ / God.
When people hear the Good News, faith comes by hearing. They confess Jesus Christ Lord & believe in their heart Jesus died on the Cross for their sins & rose from the dead for their justification.
After that they are born of God. They have a relationship with God their Father & Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit of truth & comfort. That is all the proof they need.
God forgave me & saved me from much, so I love God much. God has proven to me He is true. He answers me truth.

You say it's insane to believe without proof. But Jesus said, to Thomas "you see and believe, but blessed are they who do not see, and yet believe".

I don't believe there is a God. I know there is a God. I know God because he answers my prayers when I need his help. I know God because he's there when I need him. He gives me just the push I need when I don't think I can do any more. He holds me up when I should be falling. He gives me love and warmth and companionship when I feel down and alone! When I think all is surely lost, I suddenly found I've won. When I am feeling sorrow, He gives me joy and finds a way to make me smile. God is there watching over me, and you. He doesn't turn away from you. You have turned away from him. If you seek him. TRULY desire to know him for your self. You'll find he is right there beside you. Ready to help, guide, support and give you strength whenever you need it. I pray that you will know this for your self. That every one will know this for themselves. For there is no greater Joy, than to know God!
