Prevention
* Avoid unnecessary antibiotics.
* When bottle feeding babies, ensure careful sterilisation of the bottles, including the whole teat.
* If taking antibiotics, especially repeated courses, consider taking live yoghurts or preparations containing the same sort of micro-organisms.
* People who frequently get thrush should have a blood or urine test for glucose, to rule out diabetes.
* Diabetics should attempt to control their blood glucose level as recommended by their doctor.
* People using inhaled steroids for asthma should always rinse out their mouths after using their inhalers, and may find that their doctor can recommend a different inhaler device, if they seem to be unduly suffering from thrush.
* Some women prone to vaginal thrush find that using cotton underwear and the avoidance of tight clothing help to reduce the risk.
* In women with recurrent vaginal thrush, it is often worth their partner using some treatment at the same time as them, as the infection may affect him without symptoms, and be causing reinfection.

My sis in law kept gettin recurring thrush. Her gyno told her to watch her diet especially in the week b4 a period. Things hi in caffeine n sugar like cola's n coffee n chocolate bars needed to be avoided then n only consumed in small proportions any other time. While the food wasn't causing the thrush it was helping her body create conditions where it was easy for it to thrive. A multi vitamin supplement was recomended to her as well. Well Sis in law reckons its helped a helluva lot n she doesn't have to take prescription tablets every month now, so...Good luck

yeast infections — a common infection in women caused by an overgrowth of the fungus Candida. It is normal to have some yeast in your vagina, but sometimes it can overgrow because of hormonal changes in your body, such as during pregnancy, or from taking certain medications, such as antibiotics. Symptoms include itching, burning, and irritation of the vagina; pain when urinating or with intercourse; and cottage cheese-looking vaginal discharge. C. albicans also causes infections in other moist areas of your body, such as your mouth (thrush), esophagus (alimentary canal), skin folds and fingernail beds. The fungi can also cause diaper rash. Even if you cure it, the same will be reinfected.

Thrush is basically a yeast infection on your tongue. We all have yeast as normal flora in our mouths and on our bodies, but our immune systems and normal bacterial flora keep it at bay. It is disturbing to me that you are getting constant outbreaks of thrush. If you are not taking antibiotics (kills off your normal bacteria flora so the yeast takes over) then you may want to have yourself tested for HIV. Thrush is an opportunistic infection and indicates your immune system is not functioning at an optimal level.

you need to use the medication until its all gone. And only buy 100% cotton under pants cotton will breath and help you with this.I am not saying you wont get it any more but it will help you. I use to get it a lot as well the Dr told me only use 100% cotton under pants. It helped me and yes if you have unprotected sex and you still have thrush then your partner can get it as well. If your partner gives you oral sex your partner will get oral thrush as well.

Are you immunosuppressed (steriods, any type of transplant, crohn's disease, etc.) or chronically ill? Thrush is a yeast infection (Candidiasis) of the mouth/throat most commonly indicated by a white carpet on your tongue caused by chronic illness and/or weakened immune system. Weakened immune system can be caused by medications, are you on medications? Obviously, you should certainly speak with your physician regarding this as it can be treated with oral rinses and lozenges.

make sure you are not douching regularly because that could upset the natural flora of the environment, and also I agree that diet might be playing a huge role as well. Also, make sure you do not stay in a wet bathing suit for long after swimming, that also makes it worse.
