I actually read an article on this recently. Mattel did this since the MyScene and Bratz dolls were being so much more popular than Barbie. They had her dump Ken, move to Laguna Beach and get together with a surfer named Ben. Still hasn't done much to improve the girl's rate though... If sales don't go up, Mattel will withdraw Barbie forever in 2010.

Ken and Barbie had no way of recognizing each other amongst the rest of the Kens and Barbies that look identical to each other, so they decided to have an "open relationship" so in a way they are all dating each other.

I didn't know they did but i imagine it has a lot to do with the bump in his pants. I mean.. what's a girl supposed to do with just a bump? Perhaps ken is now seeing paris hilton
