Im not trying to start anything and im not really blaming anyone, but i am just curious. The muslims (and i mean the radical ones, not everyday nice people) get so angry at a simple comment by the pope. It might have been a little weird, but the Muslims bash Christianity and as a matter of fact every other religion every day. And they dont say simple comments such as the pope, but they say people should die, ect... so why have the mid east countries gone so crazy over a few words, when everyone else (other religions) usually just take it.

I think it goes back to culture. These Muslims come from a centuries old culture of tribalism and feudalism. They are easily insulted and have a dark ages mentality that requires physical retrobution for any insult. An example of how easily insulted they are --- when in a Muslim country one should not cross your legs so as to present the bottom of your shoe to the view of the one with you are visiting. It is considered an insult.

Their culture is so deeply steeped in physical retrobution if the US were to pull every soldier out of any contact with any Muslim country it would not take them very long to start blowing each other up for perceived insults by other Muslims to their brand of Islam.

It is a clash of a 12th century mind living in a 21st century world.

You have to know the history.

Just before 1095 A.D., the secular ruler of Constantinople, Emperor Alexius, begged the pope to help the Christians of Constantinople who were being slaughtered by the Muslims. Again, this was the secular ruler who asked for help from the pope, not the patriarch, or the bishop, of Constantinople. And, the situation in the East was bad.

Therefore, it was because of the aggression of the Muslims against the Christians that the Crusades were sent into the East. But, the Muslims don't want the world to know the truth of history and they want to cry, "poor us". Too bad for them that there are those of us who know the truth regarding history.

There should be no wonder why the Muslims show so much hatred for Christians, especially Catholics, and the Crusades. After what the fanatic Muslims did on 9/11, and the fact our family lost a member in the Twin Towers, it's my opinon that the Crusades didn't do enough.

Anytime anyone insults the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) they get personally offended. All Muslims do, but some vocalize it more than others.

The Pope made a mistake in his comments and quoted an ignoramus. By spreading false information, it fuels the flames of division, racism and ignorance. The Pope should not have chosen a quote which basically is a blatant lie.

No, each and all of the persons contained in the middle east at the instant are not enemies of the west. There are Christians contained in the middle east. The pope visited Jordan. Jordan has been a chum to western international locations.

In quoting something a ruler said back in the 14th century, the pope insulted all Muslims and its not just a few who are upset. I personally do not think the pope set out to offend these people, but offend them he certainly did. His quote insulted Mohamed and said that some teachings were evil, then he did not even apologize himself! He had an aid do it for him?!? Oh come on now... you do NOT give a speech and quote insults to another religions beliefs, then fail to apologize to that group of people.

I honestly believe that all muslims, not just a few radicals were deeply upset by this remark from a world religious leader. I' m sorry, I don't belive I've heard muslims bash other religions. The muslims that I know are a very peaceful people, and respected members of the community.

I really hope that religious leaders from the Vatican and from Islam will sit down with each other and make peace. Doing this could set a precedent for our very troubled world to follow. I do not think the pope had the intention of being malicious, but sometimes unintentionally we can offend others by the things we say. We are all Gods creation. We need to quit tearing up the world and each other. Rather than trying to prove each other right or wrong, I wish we could just accept and share the love God has for all of us.

Because the Pope despised the dignity of all Muslim's belief by referring the phrase from the medieval Christianity. You remember how the Christianity was at the age. It was full of prejudice and exclusionism. The Pope shouldn't have brought those ancient superstitional judgment to the modern society.
He hurt all Muslims so bad.

we are all in title for freedom of speech, the pope just uses his right.. the fact is his comments is true this base from our history itself, i don't say any reason the pope should apologised. the problem with them is they take it so badly very redicolous.. muslim also make comments for us in our faith when he want to convert someone and we don't mind that things.. the movie "kingdom of heaven" also a great setback for christians but we don't mind such things...WHY SHOULD YOU TAKE SUCH OFFENCE WHERE IN THE FACT IT IS TRUE.......
