Hey Ji,
These are United States measurements only!
Alcohol content of the liquor will be listed on the bottle. Items that are normally served in a shot form will range from 20% to 75.5% (That will be 40 proof to 151 proof).
As far as the physical content of a shot, that will vary depending on the establishment.
Weight and measures defines a shot as 1 ounce of liquor.
Most bars will serve anywhere from 1.25 to 1.50 ounces per shot. It lets you know that you are getting more than what the state recognizes.
Many mixed drinks will have more than 1.25 ounces of liquor in them. If you order a margarita, let's say, that will typically have 1.5 to 1.75 ounces of liquor in a 6 ounce glass. Much more for a larger glass.
Hope this information helps,
James in San Diego

A typical shot is 1.25 oz...that is usually for a single liquor straight up..
If you are mixing with juice or multipe liquors then it is usually about 1.5 oz. to 2 oz.

Not enough. Always order a Double and you have enough to make a good drink most times.

it depends on the liquor you are ordering. check out their labels, it varies from vodka, gin, whiskey, brandy and cognac. brandy contains 40%, my husband said, the strongest one is made by Bacardi rum called 151..
