My 6 month old 10 lb Malitoo lives indoors with me. She sleeps on my bed w/ me and she's jsut adorable. But the weather is getting cold, but I don't want to close the windows. I live in SoCal and I'm afraid she's getting cold. I love to snuggle in my blankets in the cold weather, and that is why I leave both my windows open. How do I know if it's too cold for her?

ok.. but the thing is.. I'M VERY COLD at night. it's 60 degrees here at night and I KNOW! THAT'S NOT COLD for you easters but that's cold for me. HOWEVER, I cannot keep myself warm due to low iron and blood, so to me, it's ALWAYS cold. I have three blankets when I sleep. that's how COLD i am. That is why i worry. because I AM SO COLD, is she? it's only 60 degrees. But she's use to like.. 80-100 over the summer.

You can feel her ears..If the ears are not cold to the touch, she is fine..However, if the ears feel cold, she needs a sweater..
Feel the underneath skin of the ears..

My vet. says that an animal is just like a human, when its cold for us its cold for them but remember its a baby still. But this past summer when the temps was 98 an 100, I made pops out of beef stock for him an I would freeze tuna juice just to keep him cool. A lot of people when a dog is hot 1st thing they do is put a hose on there back, but if you would run water under there neck an there belly it will cool them down. Just make sure his or her nose is wet an not dry or hot

I have 2 Yorkies. They are very small. But they are okay as long as the temperature is not to cold. Anything less that 58 to 60 degrees. My vet says that if I am comfortable with the temperature so are they. Hope this helps.

If she curls in a tight ball and won't come out. Also she will be lethargic if she is cold on a regular basis. Conserving energy and all that. Just give her her own warm blanket to snuggle with or buy her a sweater.

She will snuggle up in those covers as well - they tend to paw a bunch of it together around them - and then she will be fine. If you get cold enough that you need to turn on the heat, that is what she will be used to as well since she is an "indoor" dog. Just be sure to give her maybe a 3 foot square of fleece that she can bunch up for herself.

If it's below 30 degrees then it may be too cold for her...she's still a pup. If she sleeps with you shes got your body heat plus the blankets so she's fine.

if she's cold, she'll come up and cuddle with you in your bed. dogs are usually ok in cold weather as long as humans are ok. our average body temperatures are relatively the same (98.6 is normal for humans, 101-102 is normal for dogs), so she will feel cold when you feel cold! just make sure she has a blanket to snuggle up to and she will be fine.

YOU exaggerated! I live in So Ca! and it is not even near 60 degrees yet! It just feels like it cuz it was 110 LAST WEEK!
Your dog is comfortable and even if it was outside in a dog house or some kind of shelter, it would be fine. And, since it is in YOUR bed, share your covers, stingy! If she wants them.

Oh my god. So let me get this straight, you're worried that she's cold 'cause you keep the windows open but you're cold too and you still keep the windows open????? Uh..........where's the logic here? Close the window then you wont be cold and you wont have to worry about her being cold genius!

umm... did you happen to notice the FUR she's wearing all over her body? When you get cold in the house wearing a fur coat, then it's too cold for her.
