I don't allow mine in the computer room, period. Mine love watching the screen, and also have to investigate cords, keyboards, stacks of paperwork...that's what cats do :-). If you don't have a separate room to shut them out, some folks spray cats lightly in the face with a water bottle to discourage them from counters and other places they shouldn't go, but you could destroy a good computer and anything in the area. It's easier for me to shut the door. Don't forget that cat hair can cause big problems for your computer, too, causing it to overheat. Time for some "tough love." You're the person. She's the cat. Shut the door.

I might be giving the same answer because I didn't read all the others ( sorry if I am ).The only way to stop this behavior is to get a dog that sits on the floor. A cat owns you. It let's you live with it.When you call a cat, it checks the caller i.d. and screens the call.Just when you want to boot it out of your house you become sick. Then this spoiled "brat" will lay with you and comfort you with it's purr. It will seemly never leave your side.I also think when your on the computer too much, they can sense it is time to get off and go to bed. There was some reason the Egyptians worshiped them.

Cats are almost spooky in their desire to get your attention. Those keyboard hands should actually be petting them, and you should be focused on them. That's all there is to it. After all, what could possibly be more interesting than a grey cat? Only answer I can think of is shut the door and put up with the meowing, they'll get bored after a while.

Thank God for the squirt bottle! Sqiurt her with water! I use this very humane tactic to train both my cats and dogs. But she is trying to tell you that she needs more attention! Set aside some time with her every day at the same time. Say, bedtime, when your in bed but not asleep. Keep this up and she will soon come to expect it and should leave you be otherwise.

She wants your attention... Go & feed her... Maybe she's hungry... If she still bothers you again, then try giving her a pat or play with her for a while... My cat also does the same when I am in front of the computer... But after I take him down from the computer table & give him a pat & rub his tummy, he will just lying on the bed licking its paws... Then he won't be bothering me anymore... I hope it will works on your cat too...
If it still doesn't work, then you have to put your cat in another room...
Good luck... (^_^)

haha... i didn't know your cat was so active. you shouldn't lock her in another room.... she'll feel like "hey, my owner doesn't like me anymore..." and she'll get upset, probably run away. don't use water bottles to squirt her either. if you accidentaly squirt to much, she might get a cold and sneeze all the time, making you feel even more irritated. one way. give her a solid "No." and i don't think she would do that anymore. if she keeps doing that, put her on the floor, talk to her and say, " Don't do that or no dinner for ya." i don't know if it works for your cat, but it does for mine. or else you could get a cushion and put her comfy, a few cat kibbles and she might fall asleep, leaving you alone. i know cats, coz i'm one. (:

My cats walk back and forth in front of the screen. It is usually because they think dinner is a little overdue.

Set a bed near the computer. Try to get it so that when you look at the screen, she is in the line of your sight. Does that make sense? So while you are on the computer, looking at the screen, she thinks you are looking at her.
