You need to use both... first the cleanser then the astringent.
The cleanser as the name suggests cleans the surface of the skin as well as opens the pores and thoroughly cleans them (which a soap fails to do). The astringent cleans the remaining grease as well as tightens the pores which were opened by the cleanser. Thereby decreasing the oiliness of the face.
People with extremely dry skin need not use the astrigent often as it will dry the skin more.

Yes. Cleanser first then astringent. An astringent only has too much work to do, it is to clarify the skin after cleaning. It will get what the cleaner left.

depends on what brand. some are 2 in one, i would use a separate cleanser first then ans astringent and then a moisturizer after because astringents can dry your skin out really bad
