Memorize some scripture, then when these thoughts come that you don't want to think, you quote them or mutter them, this Captivates your mind, Takes the thought captive.
this is also how Christ shut down the devil when he was being tempted. all the power he had at his fingertips and he used the same tools he has given us. Scripture. see Matt 4. some good ones to memorize are:
1 cor. 10:13
2 Cor 10: 3-5
Deut 20:4
Micah 7:8
Psalm 37:4

i have had too many head injuries to keep thinking about the things that i want to think about. i cant even remember what i have stopped thinking about....
so a definate solution would be 3 people with baseball bats, and getting hit by a honda civic while crossing the road.

Start thinking things that you want to think about. Memeorize Philippians 4:8. Infact start reading more too, thats one of the biggest things I've done to help me out was to start reading more. To include daily Bible reading, that is pretty important for a christian.

Relax. Focus in on your breathing. Listen to the sounds around you. Let them flow out as they flow in.
Listen to your inhale, exhale. When your breathing became like a gentle breeze, your mind will be clear.
Do that, and you will have your answer.

We are all in control of our minds , if we realize it .
Push unwanted thoughts out and replace them with anything you like .
You could even do something as simple as consentrating on your breathing , you better lay down for this one , you will probably fall asleep .

If it involves things you need to get done but are procrastinating, you need to get it done. However if you are having invasive thoughts and they are interfering with your activities of everyday living, you might benefit from talking to a mental health expert.

Think about other things.
You can't stop thinking, but you can divert your thoughts to something else.
