The 7 deadly sins and anything that is against the the 10 Commandments are Mortal Sins, and sins that are less offending are venial sins.


The 7 Deadly Sins:
Sloth
Gluttony
Lust (Outside Mar rage)
Greed
Wrath or Anger
Pride or Vanity
Envy

I'm not so sure on types of sin. But I think a good thing to do is look at the basics. 1John 3:4 says that "sin is transgression of the Law." Now the law that its talking about is God's Moral Law, the 10 Commandments. Any sin you can think if, is in some way shape or form, a violation of one or more of those commandments.

Sin is sin. It separates men from God and unless we make a conscious decision to avoid it, then Satan will ultimately be the master.

well, i think there's venial sins, capitol (deadly) sins, mortal sins, and the unpardonable sin (that of rejecting Christ)

Idolatry, everything that one exalts over serving God is the source of and definition of sin!
So there is only one sin, idolatry.
