About a month ago I told my guy friend that I have a crush on him and last weekend we talked about it. He isn't ready for a relationship and he told me not to wait on him. I'm having difficulty reading his body language. When it's just the two of us I can get a conversation out of him, but when we're around a group of people I can barely make eye contact with him to say hello. He never seems to talk to me when our classmates are around. I have no idea of what's going on. Any suggestions?

When it's just the two of us he starts the conversation and there is eye contact.

And he kind of teases me in class (he makes me hurry up to pass him the papers while making eye contact)

if he's avoiding you in front of friends then maybe other people know about it. I'd say steer clear and invest some emotion into some others who will actually return it. Now's not the time for old boy, maybe he'll come around later. But if he's avoiding you like that in front of friends that's definitely not a positive thing.

LOL. I would enjoy this guy if I were you. Even if it doesn't amount to anything he could end up being a really cool friend. I love randomness and someone who puts that much effort into me. However, you sound like a pretty smart cookie so if something tells you this guy is just trying to play games, well then play 'em back girl! You can't play a girl that plays the game better than you! Shoot the **** back at him every now and then, call him on his "observations" and see what he has to say. "Really you want to know the inner me, huh? You could tell that by checking out the outside?"

If there's no eye contact, he doesn't face you in conversation, his arms are typically crossed over his chest when he's around you - this like this means he's not interested. I once read during conversation between two people interested in each other they begin to subconciously mimic each other. One will sit back, so will the other. One will put his or arms on a table (say in a restaurant), so will the other. interesting stuff that psychology.

Maybe your guy friend isn't really ready for a relationship and he just can't make he's mind-up. So just be a friend to him for now anything is possible just be open for things that might happen. Good Luck!!!

He's concerned about peer pressure of some sort. How things will appear to others.

I think the best strategy is to realize that his body language is for their consumption and not an indication to you about how he feels about you in private.

1. He isn't ready for a relationship with you

2. He doesn't want you to wait for him

3. Is there something about the word "no" you don't understand?

You are trying too hard, he doesn't want a relationship with you . By telling him you have a crush on him you may have damaged your friendship with him

It sounds like he's not interested. He's trying to give you hints and he even told you "not to wait on him." I mean, you're probably a prize yourself, and you deserve someone you want who wants you back.
