Well, I think it depends on what field your pursuing and what type of graduate program you're accepted into. I think a masters takes a couple of years but many do it in a year. In general, a Ph.D.program usually entails another three years including a doctorial thesis, which is like writing a book on something in your field of speciality that no one has ever written about.

My brother was very gifted academically and had a triple major as an undergrad in math, biology and chemistry. He didn't have to go through a masters program but was accepted directly into a three year doctorial program at the University of Wisconsin at Madison in math.

Traditionally PHDs require 8 years under yer belt, Batch about 4 years

USA most likely 4 - 6, europe, not so long
could be longer (a LOT longer sometimes) but that's rare, most PhD programs try to push you out after max of 7 years

I think it depends on the department of study you are in because taking phd in medicine is not the same as taking phd in Business administration.

Generally, it will require 4 more years after receiving Bachelor's degree (two years after Bachelor's, you can get Master's).
