im pretty sure i rolled my ankle at vollyball pratice:( how long does it take to get better?

It depends on how severely you damaged the soft tissues (tendons and ligaments) in your ankle. Sprains and strains can be more severe than a break and can take much longer to heal.

You need to follow the RICE plan...Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.

Stay off your ankle, apply ice packs (wrapped in a thin towel) for 20 minutes 3-4 times per day, wrap it snugly (but not too tight as to cut off your circulation) with an ace bandage, and keep it elevated (propped up higher than your heart if you can...so lie down with it up on pillows).

Ibuprofen (Advil) can help with the pain and inflammation.

If you truly cannot bear weight at all, you need to be evaluated now. If you follow the above directions and you see no improvement or find it's worsening after 2 weeks...then you need to be seen.

It takes awhile for your ankle to heal. If you go back to playing volleyball right now...you'll just re-injur it. You need to stay off it to allow it to heal...then gradually resume activity once the pain is gone....plain and simple.

In the young usually about 2 weeks.
the older you get the longer it takes
then the average is about 4-6 weeks.
In the mean while
Rest
and Ice it
Ask your trainer to wrap it before you play so you dont' reinjure.

most common injury around the ankle is tear (partial or complete) of the medial collateral ligament.
put elastic bandage as long as its painful, usually it takes about 2 weeks to heal.Good luck

what exactly is rolling your ankle? maybe you should go get it checked out, better to be safe then sorry :o)
