There are two kinds of pudding cups. One does not have to be refrigerated. You find them on a rack near the cereal snack bars and the fruit cups.
The other does have to be refrigerated and you find them in the refrigerator case at your grocery store.
Just read the directions on the package and they will tell you if that particular product is one that requires refrigeration or not.

the pudding they have on the shelf and the refrigerated are is the same pudding it has so many preservatives in it that it dosn't;t matter I hate to break it to you but you are eating pure chemicals practical so really do want it to be warm or cold when you eat it ?
And since pudding was originally made on a hot stove you can eat it any way you want

You both are. While most pudding cup brands require refrigeration, HUNTS brand does not. So I guess it depends on what brands the two of you are buying. That could be why this feud is on-going. You may have the brand that has to be refrigerated, and she probably buy Hunts brand. Am I right?

Pudding can be kept in a cabinet or the refrigerator.

Well it depends on the kind of pudding cup! Some of them don't actually have any dairy in them (generic) so it's ok to keep them in the cabinet. Good ones like Jello, Hereshy, Swiss Miss etc, contain dairy so they must be refridgated! So both of you are right technically.

In my mind, you buy the pudding cups from the shelf (not chilled) - refrigerate after opening.

If you buy them from the refrigerator section you need to keep them in the frig. But if you get them off the shelf you can store them on shelves. Frig is better for me, I like pudding cold.

they are FULL of preservatives that keep them safe on the shelf non-refridgerated.... UNTIL they're open. I guess it depends on what section you buy them in. Some come in the regular isles, and some are in the cold section.

If you just give ME all your pudding, you wont have to worry about anything! I am so generous and thoughtful... I know!

You must refrigerate them
and even refrigerated they
have a shelf life of about
3 weeks!

Hard to believe somebody
would 'cupboard' the puddingcups'!

Stop battling and refrigerate!
Good luck!

Well when you buy them at the store they are just out on the shelf. So I don't see what the problem would be with putting them in the cabinet.
