Face it, incontinence happens in old age. Old people some times need Depends. Same for dogs. it's not easy to run to the door and let your owner know you need to go RIGHT NOW! when your in your 80's and 90's.

My 16 year old does the same thing. She used to be able to hold it all day if she had to...when she was younger. She's now blind and deaf. I try to catch her when I think she might have to go, then take her outside and stay with her until she goes. Then I bring her in a love her and play with her. I know her days are limited on this earth. She has alot of accidents in the house. You just gotta grin and bear it, get out the ole mop, (or a good carpet cleaner), then you can get new carpet when he goes. It's frustrating, but bless his little heart. He can't help it. Poor thing. Good luck with you and your doggie.

Yes it does. Consider yourself like having an incontinent senior citizen in your home. Maybe try getting some peepads for your old baby. Poor thing. Bless his little heart.
Be patient too. No fussing or screaming. He is losing his way and more than likely his time is coming.
Just enjoy the time you have left with him Furmommy!!

It might be a serious urinary tract problem. I used to have a cat that was about 5, he all of a sudden started peeing on things on the floor. It turned out that he had chrystals in his urinary tract, peeing all over was a way to let me know he had a problem.
Ask your vet.

Older dogs can have bladder control problems just like older folks... A vet may be able to give him something to help him.... Has his environment changed any? (new baby, cat, house, etc.)

My maltese did that a few months before he passed away. The older they get the weaker the bladder gets. It is a sign of old age.

if it pee's in a normal spot then put plastic there and also he probably needs to be walked more often because he is older he has less bladder control also try switching over to some really soft food if your not already

Yes this does happen sometimes, though it's not very often. Did you give him something sweet, like icecream , they do find it difficult to control themselves till they're taken out. My dog did that whenever we gave him icecream or sweets.
