Unfortunetly, I don't have enough info about you to know for sure what is with you but I can give you some advice. First off, if you have any thoughts of hurting yourself, suicide, etc. you should seek help from a therapist because you are probably suffering from depression. I have been suffering from depression all my life and i currently take Prozac but unfortunetly a lot of depression meds don't work exactly like they should. I would only say that it is depression though if you are sad all the time, feel like you have no energy or motivation to do anything, feel like you are being overcome with sadness, or you have thoughts of harming yourself. If you aren't sad all the time, just recently then its probably just a passing phase which is harmless. The problem is I don't really know how long you meant by "a long period of time". Also, if all of this confuses you then what you really should do is just talk to a family member that you can trust to be understanding of your situation. I hope this is just a passing phase for you and you will be happy again soon!

Depends on how long it lasts. One of the symptoms of depression is a feeling of sadness that lasts two weeks or more. There is a website you can go on that can help you see if you may have symptoms and give you a print out to take to your doctor. One is checkupfromtheneckup.ca.

Sadness is not good for your general health. Try regular walks, get a pet, meet more nice people. If you take a dog for regular walks in the park you can do all three at once!
