if he has just come out of an 8 year relationship then he is gonna be hurt, so, i reckon the best thing to do is just be a Friend to him, show him he can rely on you, and very gently, just say... something like............. (Bob or whatever) recently i have had feelings for you, and understand that you have come out of a relationship, i want you to know that I'm here for you to talk, anytime you want..... and so on.... key words.... understanding, honesty, respect..... he also will have his pride hurting, so give him space, he'll come round.

to let him know your intersted in him is by letting him know express your feelings.his message maybe to short is he doesn't talk because you maybe get enough talking at home and he wants some quiet time to hiself.

start being a little flirty, tell him you like the way he dresses or laugh at all his jokes, if there's a party going on tell him you need someone to go with, plan things where you would need a date to go to, like to such a party or with friends to the movies
hope this helps :)
also, if you get the chance, please comment or sign my Guestmap, Thanks :)
