Friends are good support system. When things go wrong with the person he can seek comfort from his friends allowing expression of depression or grief. This is very healthy for the psychological aspect of the person. If he can not tolerate frusrations in life..had many failures..rejected..he may progress to clinical depression with physical manifestations such as: fatigue..loss of weight...pain..headache..loss of concentration...crying...insomnia..eventually suicide..death

Very important. Not only for mental developement, but health wise, they can lift you up and cheer you up. A wonderful support group will always be able to get you over rough spots in your life, with silly jokes and serious advice.
I am just recovering from breast cancer and I never would have got over some of the treatments if it weren't for my firends. Joking and making light of what we all knew were some serious things really put a new light on everythng. Laughter really is the best medicine for all things.

Friends are important in good and bad times, especially if you are young and still 'growing up'. It is important to deal with stressors as they occur in life, talking to friends can help but sometimes we need professional guidance to resolve the issue that causes the stress. If others are not available to talk to you writing a journal often helps just to get the thoughts out of your own head.

Friends and support sources are important for some people. Though others prefer to be loners. Some source of support is good, even if just chatting with others online. In nice positive forums.

Well now, that all depends on how good they are at cognitive therapy. You can feed yourself positive uplifting thoughts and do just fine with or without friends to talk to. Check this out: http://moodgym.anu.edu.au/

I would say very sick! If I didn't have my friends or family to count when rough times hit, I might have commited suicide, or had a nervous breakdown

social interaction is a necessity, without it, I honestly believe that a person could go mad over a length of time.....even people in prison socialize.....think about never talking to anyone again,,,how do you think that would affect you in the long term?
