I mean what's in it and why is it bad? It's just bee sweat and pollen and glucose I think. And why are Japanese people so smart?

Mothers are discouraged from dipping dummies/pacifiers in honey.Too much honey can rot a babies teeth, before they even emerge from the gum line. Oh, and Japanese people work harder and try harder that westerners on average.

While honey is a favorite sweetener for many adults and children, it should not be fed to children under age 1. Honey may contain the dormant spores of a bacteria that causes a rare but very serious condition called infant botulism.

Adults and older children have a high level of acid in their stomachs and protective bacteria in their intestines. This prevents potentially harmful spores from growing and producing a poison that causes botulism. The digestive system of infants less than 1 year of age is still immature and unable to prevent any spores they ingest from growing and producing the poison.

Infant botulism:
Is caused by consuming the spores of the botulinum bacteria, which then grow in the intestines and release toxin.

about the "why are japanese people so smart?
i do agree with a previous response, that through out the age ranges japanese people are dedicated and applied to education and culture.
honor to the family is another factor why children are expected to do better and so honering their family through their hard work.

"In Japan, inter-relationships between people are heavily influenced by concepts of "honor", "obligation", and "duty" in a way that is much less true in the more individualistic and free-wheeling West. Finally, generalized conceptions of morality and desirable behavior are less developed in Japan, where particular and situational obligations to family, school, and friends tend to guide behavior"

Hope this helps.

Honey is bad for babies because it isn't pasteurized and their immune systems haven't completely developed. It can also cause them to develop bad allergies right off the bat.
