Sometimes our minds block out portions of our lives so that we won't remember something bad that has happened.
I had major surgery at age 2 and the only thing I can remember is looking in a window ,while being strapped to a baby bed and watching people eat Cheerios..I have no recollection of all the pain I must have gone through..
So I guess that there are things in your life that you should not try to remember, because the pain of it might be unbearable...
Below is a web site you should check-out...

People repress memories. But not being able to remember the first 2 years isn't unusual. If you are happy and well adjusted you probably aren't repressing any bad memories.

Believing in facts is quite healthy. Why wouldn't a person believe in repressed memories? They happen all the time. I was severely depressed and lost a lot of memories, but they are starting to come back little by little.

yea for sure. I know that i have repressed memories, one in particular because I can remember in detail the events before and after what happened but nothing for a certain space of time. I believe because it was too traumatic for me to handle at that point in my life. I think that certain personalities are more prone to repressed memories- using it as a defense mechanism.

Yes, I do. I have no memory of anything prior to age 7. That was the period, my mother told me, that my father was beating her and molested me. Makes sense. My shrink is working on getting to the repressed memories now in our sessions, as a matter of fact. Not sure I want to know anything.

Yes, some people subconsciously repress memories because they were bad experiences or simply because nothing happened good or bad to remember. Our brains have a vast capacity to store our experiences, it's all in there in the deep recesses, that's why suddenly out of the blue we remember things we have never recalled before.

if we are talking about repression, its about sigmund freud theory about 3 levels of mind and he states that its the most common defense mechanism use of an individual.. memories from the past that hard to recalled were being stored in unconscious mind and sometimes being remembered thru the weak subconscious mind by means of slip of the tounge, slip of the pen, dreams which sometimes we experienced de javu. which i believed and experienced

yea i remember some things when i was 3, but most of it is somewhat inaccurate
i remember the fire that was in my old house. i was like 2 and 3 quarters i was watching my sister play starwars tiefighter on the computer downstairs, (my parents were at work) then suddenly my grandma yelled to come out and we ran outside and there was this huge fire on our house then i went back in and in the living room and it was all grey i could barely see anything lol i had no idea why i went back in, maybe i wanted to pick up the computer and monitor and bring them outside but it was kind of stupid of me hehe, it was some old windows 95 computer
everything's fine though no one got hurt or anything
