Use Frontline or advantage. You use it every 30 days works great. Get it from your vet.

I am surprised that you have not been told about products like Advantage. They are all very similar as they are put on once a month. They work immediately, and are safe. Some kill ticks as well as fleas. Some only kill the fleas not the eggs. They are not all waterproof, so know what you want the product to do.
Also be vigilant. Just because your pet has been treated doesn't mean you can let dogs with fleas around your pet. So if you are around other animals or people who own animals always check your pet. Fleas do live in clothing.
And a good tip for making sure that all your hard work is paying off as far as keeping your home free and clear of fleas is to keep a small bowl of dish-washing liquid and a bit of water in a corner. Fleas love it. If it attracts any , then you know you still have work left to do.
I have 8 dogs and only once did I have a flea problem, and that was one time too many. No one is allowed in my home unless their pet is wearing one of these products.
There is nothing worse than seeing your poor pet scratch and scratch at himself, and until you get him help you feel helpless.
I hope I have been of some help.
Blackie.

Hi -- Everything needs to be done at the same time -- flea bomb the house and treat your pet -- then treat the house in 2 weeks again to get any eggs that were left.
Grooming is key with your pet. Check your environment as well -- if you have a yard that your pet goes out into a lot, you may also want to check into natural flea protectant for outside. There are several available that are environmentally friendly.
You can also try natural remedies such as a mild tea-tree based spray and shampoo.

Doggie must be bringing them in from outside.
You need to consider a flea control like Frontline or Advantage.
Then you need to kill all the fleas where the dog tends to hang out outside. Fleas only jump on the dog when they need a blood meal in order to reproduce.

When you give your dog the flea bath, do you use a fine-toothed comb to comb the fleas out of his fur? Physically removing the fleas as the bath suds works on him is the only way I know to get rid of them; otherwise the fleas just hide from the bath by burrowing deep and waiting until he's dry.
Good luck!

Frontline
It's the best I've tried the other leading brands and this is the only one that works. It's water proof too. It will kill the flea cycle. Use once a month.
You can get without prescription at

We use frontline, have not found anything better. Just vacuumed the carpet for a few days. No fleas at all. It lasts for a month, and is well worth the money. Our dogs are much happier and so are we. Not even an exterminator could do better, for the cost.

In addition to treating the dog you have to rid your carpet and furniture of any remaining fleas or eggs. Besides bombing the house you may want to try moth balls in your vacuum cleaner bag, the moth balls kill any fleas it picks up. Another thought is if your yard is infested every-time you let your dog out he could be reinfecting himself with the fleas and your just starting all over again. There are sprays available for the yard you may want to look into.

Ask your vet for the pill. There is a pill youcan give your pet and it kills fleas. I have 5 cats. It is a problem. I haven't used the pill yet. I use frontline spray and front line top spot. So ask your vet about these products. I also vacuum regularly and use flea spray on the carpet and furniture.

well besides advantage which works wonders. You can also use a lil bit of vinegar in their water. They cant taste it and is does something to their blood that fleas dont like. you can also put lil tuna cans of soapy water around the house on the floor(of course out of doggys reach) the fleas are attracted to it,they jump in and die. THis along with vacuuming should rid the house.

Sounds like you are killing the poor dog with chemicals. You should be using frontline once a month, and treating the yard. That plus flea bombing the house should take care of it.
