(Okay, I can just see some of you groaning over this question). I see that some people who practice Wiccan religion (or at least are familiar with it) believe that there is a God and Goddess.

If you look at the book, The DaVinci Code, it alludes to the fact that the holy grail really was Mary Magdalene who bore a child for Jesus named Sarah. The book also alludes that there is a God and Goddess in "the true God-like faith"

So does that mean that Dan Miller is trying to convince people that God supports the Wiccan religion????

Sorry, you are right, the author is Dan Brown (sorry, it's been a while since I read the book) and I do agree that you have to take what he writes as a skewed work of fiction.

I did get a bit of that impression (not necessarily Wiccan -- but rather the Goddess Feminine in general)..

Please be aware that there is no credible historical evidence to suppor the claims of the book...

See http://www.godsci.org/gs/dvc/ for an evaluation of the claims of the Da Vinci Code.

Cordially,
John

I think you mean Dan Brown. LOL

It's a work of fiction. He was going by what someone wrote in another book ("Holy Blood, Holy Grail") and elaborating on it. If there was a goddess, wouldn't it be in the Bible?

He was trying to write a book that would sell, and he succeeded. It doesn't make it true. Remember, fiction means made-up. He put enough fact in to make it confusing.

Most religions, at least in some point in their history, had a female aspect to their worship, not just Wicca. Regardless of how factual the book is (let's face it, not very!) I think Dan Brown was trying at least a bit to bring the focus back to the feminine aspect in religion in general. Personally, i think thats a good thing!

God is the infinite being. Alpha and Omega. There is no gender applicable to God in the highest spiritual sense. Goddess is a limitation imposed on a deity by a religion.

LOL. it really is a tacky action picture yet i love it. I easily have a difficulty for dystopian thoughts. exciting factoid. ***Spoiler alert!*** The e book the action picture develop into in accordance to (Make room! Make Room! ) don't have that dramatic finishing to it. there is Soylent , for sure, in spite of the undeniable fact that this is not made up of human beings. this is what the manufacturers say it really is.

...yes.. pagan and gnostic [gnostic was really just another guise of pagan] - I thought the book seemed to be saying 'God' - the sacred, however they think of it, is a part of woman's anatomy.. same old, same old since Babel Tower and the first evil priest - sex and violence.. it seduces, it works.. the early pagan religions included orgies.. and i imagine people flocked, like they use pornography today.. satanism is "do as thou wilt" - able to do whatever one wants without social impediment [this is also the base of evolution philosophy]..

Actually I think the book was leaning more towards the Nostic beliefs, but yea, you have the basic gist. He's trying to blow smoke at Christianity so that people loose their way....

Many, many religions have both gods and goddesses (Greek, Roman, Celtic, Norse......). There is no reason why it should be a reference solely to Wicca.
