Very important! If this is her first litter, watch her close. My own dog is a medium size, and she had pups by a larger dog. One got caught in the birth canal and we had to rush her to the vet for an emergency C section, and even then we barely saved her. Four out of six survived birth and 3 made it to adult hood. Here is what to watch for - dogs like to have their pups at night, I have 2 females and one had hers in the middle of the night, one started early morning.
If you get worried, remember this - pups should come at a rate of about one per hour. Sometimes its not that long between them, sometimes its a bit longer, however, if you have not seen any pups in 3 hours and you KNOW there were more inside her, start contacting a vet - if nothing for 4 hours, take her in immediately - they may not be able to save the pups, but they can save her.
Also, if you notice that she seems to be straining very hard and nothing results, take her in, better to be safe then sorry.
Don't worry if : she seems to go to sleep. Having babies is hard work, she should clean the baby and then take a nap - She gets up and leaves the box - sometimes she will need to stretch her legs, she may get hungry or thirsty. If she lays down in another spot, you can urge her back to her box, or if she already has a pup or more, you can bring her babies to her. - If the pups don't seem to be nursing - during birth, things are crazy, the pup may nose around a little bit before finding mom and will cry like all babies. If the pup the wanders far though, you may want to place it in another box with a towel-covered water bottle till mom is done having babies or shows interest in the baby.
If you have more questions, lemme know.

It is getting close - she will try to hide somewhere or checking out areas to where she will have the puppies. I would say within the next week or two.
