Do you remember the hot chocolate everyone was always drinking? What was it she put in it? Chili powder? Do you think it's a real recipe, and have any of you ever tried it? If so, tell me about it, and share the recipe with me, so I can see if it's as good as it was portrayed in the film. Thanks!

Saw the movie, and yes, it was some kind of chili that was in the chocolate.

Never had spicy hot chocolate, but here's a recipe I found online:

You can find other recipes by searching for "spicy hot chocolate".

I did happen to see a show on the Food Network a few months ago about a candy shop that made spicy chocolate candy, but I can't remember the name of the shop or where it was located, sorry....

I've had other spicy candies though; they're pretty easy to find in San Antonio. There are these lollipops covered in a chili powder, and they are delicious.

As far as the person who mentioned a chicken recipe, it's called mole (pronounced MOH-leh). It is also quite good when made correctly.

LOVED the movie - loved the book and LOVE LOVE LOVE Johnny Depp!

Yes, the leading lady added chili powder to the hot chocolate. There is a chocolate company in Chicago that makes very expensive, very incredible chocolates with chili powder, curry, and other odd flavorings. They sound weird and off beat, but are incredible Have you ever been to Ethel's Chocolate shops? They too have some off the beaten track flavors.

Here is a recipe for hot chocolate with chili powder - enjoy!

INGREDIENTS:
3 tablespoons instant hot chocolate mix
1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch chili powder
1/4 cup milk
3/4 cup boiling water

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
In a large mug, mix the hot chocolate mix, chocolate syrup, cinnamon, and chili powder. Pour in the milk. Add the boiling water and stir.

Yes--a neat film. I was hungry the whole time I watched it!
Chocolate is an ancient food and yes, there are recipes that include chocolate and are not at all sweet. There is a Mexican recipe for chicken and chocolate that I've never eaten but sounds interesting. "Google" chocolate sometime and see what recipes come up or check out the FOODTV network site.

Chocolate rules!

Enjoy.

It would probably be good with Hershey's, but I'm not too sure about Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate.
