Your firewall or antivirus protection program might be blocking it.

I prefer to save a download as opposed to running it. I keep copies of all downloads. That way, if there is a crash or another type problem, I can rerun it.

Try again, and this time be on the alert for any messages regarding "active X files" or whatever.

If it is Yahoo Messenger you want, go to http://messenger.yahoo.com/
and click download.
You will be asked if you want to run or save --
select "save"
To make it simple, save it to your desktop.
When the download is finished, you can double-click to run or make a backup copy before you run.
