Do surgery. Cut open the swordfish, pull the cat out, give cat back to neighbors and apologize for the way the cat looks, then sew the swordfish back up.

buy a new cat that looked the same as the old one.

Quick---run down to the nearest dump and grab a stray cat and bring it back to your neighbor's house. Just toss it over the fence---your neighbors will never be able to tell the difference.
