Cook County has a website with their records online.

I am not sure how often it is updated.

San Diego PD has a website which lists everyone in jail, everyone with outstanding warrants, etc. You access it through the Sheriff's Department website.

I'm sure that Chicago has something similar. Simplest way to find out is ask a local reference librarian or a local cop.

I believe you can go to the Chicago Police Dept. website and there should be a jail roster with names.

Check the newspaper and see if the have a police blotter (lists who was snagged).

Nope, not really. You need to be a family member or spouse to usually get that info.
