This is so weird, I was talking about this very subject with someone tonight. She said that she'd had the same dream for a while and she decided to think at bed time each night to change the outcome to what she wanted it to be. She'd just visualize it and change it in her mind right before she'd sleep. Of course, she said when she wanted to dream it to see if she really could change it so that it breaks, she didn't have it again for a long time. Finally she had it again (by then she wasn't doing the visualization before sleep anymore) and low and behold, it was much better and only remotely close to the old version. It wasn't the exact dream she'd planned in her thoughts, but she never had it again.
I'm going to call her right now and tell her about your question. Very cool coincidence.

When you have the same dream over and over your subconscious is trying to bring something to your attention. You will continute to have these dreams until you figure out what they're trying to tell you. When I was little my mother married this abusive asshole and I dreamed about tornadoes until I was 15. I later found out that tornadoes represent destruction in one's life. After I put two and two together and put some effort into solving my problem then I stopped having the nightmares.

Your subconscious needs more to think of is it something you are worried about or don't talk about? Our subconscious sometimes plays what if that does not mean what if will come true that is what gives it the freedom to dream

Problem is how to get rid of it. Before going to bed sit down in a comfortable position. close your eyes. Recapitulate the dream very vividly. it will not recur.

....well, it depends on what the dream is, for example, if i is a phsychopathic dream, then find some help. If it's a romantic dream, keep dreaming it. If it's seriously a problem, then you should find a book or doctor for it... : )
