.07 or 7/100 is 7 percent. So multiply that number with 900, and then add the result to 900. 963

Percentage is just that number divided by 100. So 17 percent is .17 times the number. If you have a % increase find the value of the % of the original number and add the two.

That is assuming all enrolled students attend and you are not asked to include rates. WHich I doubt very much. Just remember 3% is .03, 50 % is .5, see? Now is i want 60% of 34 i do 34 x .6 - and that is the answer. If you have a percentage increase its just asking you to add the result to your original number.

You usually take the already existing data to be 100 percent, for convenience sake. The currently existing data is the enrollment for the given school year. An increase by 7 percent means an addition of 7% to the already existing 100%. Together, the enrollment of the next year is then 100+7=107 percent. Since we took the current enrollment, 900, to be 100%, we now need to calculate the 107 percent of 900. that would be:
1)107/100;
2) (107/100)*900=107*9 = 963.

The final answer is 963. It indirectly gives you another result:
Since the difference between the two enrollments is 7%, and the difference between the two numbers, 963, and 900 is 63, you get the same number described two different ways. That in turn implies that the two numbers are one and the same: 7% of 900 is 63.

So the new enrollment is 963, and the increase is 63.
Hope that helps.

Multiply 900 * 0.07
That equals 63.
Add that result to the original amount. So, 963 students will start school next year.
