OK fundis: Jesus said "do not let your right hand know what your left hand does" (basically I could not find the exact verse). So why do you shove religion down throats? And no BS about "preach to all nations" either. Keyword preach not harrass. I mean why aren't you following Jesus??

I am normally very tolerant but after listening to some bible thumper for two hours I need a real answer!

AND I'M RELIGOUS AND I STILL HAD TO LISTEN TO HER CRAP!!

BTW I am liberal Catholic and I had to put up with this crap. So yeah I know there are nice Christians--I am one of them. Now why do you you shove the dang verses at me??

ROY, I want to know why the heck you don't shut your trap and leave me alone. I am Christian--go save someone else's *** from hell. I am tired of getting preached at--this is a rant but a valid question.

Shadowgirl, I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with a very overzealous Christian.

Just so you know, it's kind of a weird way she is doing this, but in her own way she cares. But I agree that she is doing this totally the wrong way.

To me, it's an ethical dilemma, I hate to see anyone get hurt. So, I want to make sure a person does not suffer. That includes where I believe a person will spend eternity. I can't stand around and see someone get hurt.

So just know we do care, but I also respect that you don't agree with my beliefs.

Perhaps someday you will see our religion in a different light. We're not all hellfire and brimstone fanatics.

They are under pressure to increase church membership, and it has little to do with preaching the Gospel.

No one can impose truth. Truth can only be proposed to those who are disposed to receive it. Christians who give food to hungry people are not imposing food on them.

Truth will nourish a persons soul. Untruth will not do a good job. No one asks for the wrong time. They ask for the right time because it is natural to want to know the truth of the world around us.
Truth will stand on its own merits or its not truth.
Proving one has the truth by bashing anothers beliefs (i.e. Catholicism) is self-defeating.
Nowhere in the bible does the bible say it is the sole rule of faith.
Nowhere in the bible does the bible say it is clearly understandable.
When fundies learn these important concepts, you MIGHT be able to have dialogue with them.

You would probably consider me a "fundie". Christians should never "shove their faith" down other people's throats. The apostle Paul made it clear that we are to speak the truth in love, with gentleness and respect. I'm sorry that you haven't encountered more christians who have the proper perspective on sharing the gospel message.

You are a little out of context with the right hand / left hand passage. It has to do with giving "alms" or tithing and donations.

But you are correct. Preaching at people rarely does anything but offend them. Love is what Jesus used to draw men to Himself. Love is still what will draw men to Him.

Hon,that's Matthew chp.6 and He is talking about giving to charity. He says give... and keep your trap shut and God will bless you.Give... and make sure everyone knows about it,and you already have your reward from men not God. You ever see those telethons where they say "and Joe Blow from Encino just gave a whole $20.00.." well,Joe just got his reward but his heavenly bank account is empty.Get it?
What alot of people don't understand is it's the Holy Spirit that draws you to God.Not someones incessant yammering.Jesus said "No one comes to me unless the Spirit draws him". All God might use a blow hard for is to get a couple of words in your head that might peak your curiosity.

Though I'm Native American, I can explain the verse to you ...
It is a verse regarding charity, which is to be done in secret so that no one knows you did it and you receive no show of gratitude from the recipient ... once you are "thanked" by someone, the Father owes you nothing. Thus, anonymously you build rewards in heaven for your good deeds and good will toward men.

I agree with Rod C's answer.

It is always good to know where the verse is and what context it is in. That's why I always suggest reading and studying the bible for oneself. That's how I came to know Jesus as Lord in my life.

I don't know who is trying to shove religion your way, but sorry to hear that. Not all fundamentalists are bible thumpers.

One thing I know for sure Christianity is a relationship not a religion. A relationship with Jesus Christ the one who died and spilled His precious blood for our sins

Hope this helps.

Some Christians, especially the newbies, think it is within their power to change your mind. In truth, all they can do is sow seed, and wait for God to deal with you. I apologize on her behalf. If God has chosen you for the Kingdom, it's just a matter of time. If not, no amount of 'preaching' will help you. No one can force you to believe, and this is as it should be. God loves you, but He is not a rapist. It has to be your choice to respond to His call. Choose well.

Why did you have to listen to her, you mean to tell me you couldn't get away, you were tied, handcuffed, what made you stay and listen to her? What do you consider crap? If she preached the Bible, then it was the truth, and you didn't like what you heard. If your heart and soul is sincere, then you shouldn't care if she preached or (harassed, as you say), unless you have a guilty conscious.

So someone made you sit still and listen to something you didn't believe and you felt like it was being shoved down your throat. Sounds like you are very angry at being stuck listening to something that you didn't believe.

No need to be angry at all fundamentalists because someone forced you to listen.
