David was guilty of murder and adultery. He had already desired in his heart that which was not his. He murdered Uriah. Yet God forgave him. God didn't forgive the two teenagers who called Elisha a baldy head. Why?
The lesson I learned was it taught me the difference between believing, and "believing in" someone. Why is it soooo important to God that you believe in him? In his son? Why does this give you the power from God to "wipe" away your sins?...
You can believe someone exists. It means nothing. If you believe in someone is indicative of two things. One- one must have a relationship with the person in order to "believe in" them. Two- one must love this person. You love your son, daughter, mother, father...and you "believe in" them. You have the faith that they will succeed...in relationships, life, etc. It means you believe they will come through for you. We all sin and are guilty of all sins (for if you are guilty of just one of these, you are guilty of them all); however, not all of us "believe in" Him. David believed in Him, the teenagers mocked Him (they disrespected Elisha, therefore denying the deity of God.) David was forgiven because he had a relationship with Him and loved Him as well. That's what I learned! :)

We can learn how to make choices we won't regret.
What was David doing when he fell into sin? While the other kings were out to battle he was at home in his palace.
1. He wasn't where he was supposed to be.
He saw Bathsheba, and kept looking (he could have turned away)
2. He lusted
He took her for himself
3. He acted on that lust
He "got rid" of her husband
4 he was guilty of murder
He followed the pattern of sin. Looking, lusting, taking, sinning. Eve followed that same pattern in the garden.
But we know that David repented and was forgiven, however he paid the price for his sin for the rest of his life. And others suffered because of his sin. Bathsheba lost her husband and she and David lost their child.
We need to be careful to walk the straight and narrow. We'll stumble sometimes. How good to have a Lord and Savior who will forgive us when we repent.

I learned that we can fall very, very far away from God if we succumb to temptation, but also that He is ready to hear our prayers for forgiveness if we are truly sorry and cry out to Him in repentance from the depths our hearts. Even a low-down adulterer and husband-murderer like David can be restored to the heights of God's favor by sincere repentance and confession. God's mercy and forgiveness are awesome!

God had to send a prophet to tell David to repent.
Even though he was king, David had to go through the earthly consequences for what he did.
And pay the consequences he did.
None of us, including David are above sin.
But what is in the lesson is that retribution, one way or another, is required by God.

That God doesn't always look at your sins. Instead He is a Forgiving God, and once He forgives, He forgets. A person does'nt have to worry about his problem being brought up always cause, when God forgives, He has already no memory whatsoever on those sins ...

To love the Lord and return to Him even when we know we have done wrong. To be of a repentant heart before God, and to praise Him. Also to have a relationship with God through prayer and praise so that we are not far from His throne when we are in need.

David was truly a great servant of God. From his example we can learn to appreciate the goodness of God. And if we make a mistake we should have sincere heart so God can forgive us. From his example we also learn to respect our authorities. Remember when King Saul was in charge? Well David's cousin wanted to kill him but David didn't let him since he was God's appointed King. Also if we are in trouble and in desperate time we should to God in Prayer. He is one of my favorite characters in the Bible.

We should all be as passionate about God as he. If we are repentant of our sin, we should immediately ask for forgiveness.

To walk humbly with God... we will screw up at times... at such times, truly repent, turn away from our sins, and return to God.

That we are saved by faith and not works, least any man boast,as Paul said.,and that the only unforgivable sin is to reject the free gift of salvation offered by the shed blood of Christ.
