I'm asking this because in response to my last question, someone said schools are teaching kids to be homosexuals.
Which raised the question as to how that is being done. I'm nearly 60 years old and have never been tempted to be a homosexual. I cannot image what kind of lecture or course could be taught to convince me that my old buddy Bob was more desirable than little Suzy across the street.
For those who assert homosexuality is being taught in schools, please explain how that is being done.
Thanks.

Thanks for the offer, Gary, but I probably know more about religion and the Bible than you.

I'm an atheist and for good reason.

I'm an atheist and that hasn't seemed to alter my views about women being more desirable than men. As a matter of fact, a blow up doll sounds more desirable than men although I have no experience with blow up dolls.

Clarifying the "little Suzy" comment in original question:
"Little Suzy" is a middle aged woman small in stature, hence, "little" Suzy. For the weirdos and pedos, "little Suzy" is not referring to a child.
My apologies for any confusion, but I tend to forget there are freaks and weirdos in Cyberland.

To Miraclewhip:
I am at a loss to understand how anyone can make the giant leap from tolerating homosexuality to the acceptance of pedophilia. The two are unrelated and as I recall, there have been several recent stories about women teachers "molesting" ("raping"?) their male students.
One of the more notorious cases resulted in the kid marrying the teacher. I cannot imagine how miserable his life will be when he finally matures and realizes he is stuck with an unfaithful, predatory, self-serving woman and the children that resulted from that relationship.
But, that is not the subject or topic of this question and since I'm going to close out this question, will be my final comment on the matter.
Homosexuality and pedophilia are two unrelated topics.

Schools aren't teaching children to be homosexual, but some -are- teaching them to be accepting of people who already are, and that is what some people are so upset about.
I'm trained as a school teacher, and I can assure you, we were never told to encourage kids to become gay. We -were- told -- those of us preparing to become high school teachers, at least -- that some of our students were likely to be uncertain about their own sexual identity, and some would know themselves to be homosexual, and that as potential role models, we'd likely be asked by those students what we thought of such things. We weren't told that we had to approve, only that we needed to know we'd be asked, and not say anything in reply that would hurt the student asking. (I am happy to say that one of my fellow future teachers who had some very nasty comments on the mater did NOT end up teaching after all.)

Some school districts are far more aggressive than others in their promotion of the "homosexuality as not alternative, but mainstream lifestyle" idea. There is a spectrum ranging from a reasonable stance (presented by Red's answer, which you recommended) to a milieu in which classic children's literature would be pushed aside in order to allow class time for "Heather has Two Mommies."

ALL school districts are (or should be) HYPER vigilant at keeping a certain kind of homosexuality, the predatory kind, out of the schools. Public schoolteachers (and as a matter of fact, Sunday School teachers in an increasing number of churches) are required to get fingerprints and background checks.
But you know, JT, morality is relative, or so I've heard. In time, those background checks may become obsolete, as the Great Wheel of Moral Relativism turns through another cycle. Pederasty in the schools of the ancient Greeks was considered to be quite acceptable.

One day when I was in 6th grade, the teacher told us that the boys would go to one portable and the girls would go to another. And there for the first time in my life I learned that boys could have sex with boys, and in which ways, and I was told that one out of four boys is gay and that girls have "3 holes", and the presiding teacher took questions from the students to better understand homosexuality, and the entire class was filled with laughter and smiles at the concept of homosexuality, it seemed as if everyone was being taught how to be a homosexual or to try to test homosexual acts to see if they are pleasing, so one could consider if they are homosexual or not. We were not taught that homosexuality might be wrong or unnatural.
There are many societies in the world where the concept of homosexuality is not known or only exists in religious scriptures about Sodom and Gomorrah. I think the popularity of homosexuality in this country, is because most Christian, Jewish and Muslim parents don't have time to teach their children about Sodom and Gomorrah, and public schools refrain from teaching any type of morality.
How many public school shootings and cases of young people engaging in homosexuality will it take for the Christians, Jews and Muslims to realize that they are the majority in the country and that they can get public schools to teach the different religious beliefs of the world? This would also get rid of religious hatred, because people would understand the similarities and/or good things about other religions, so they won't grow up to discriminate against them.

I don't think it's being taught in a direct sense. Not by teachers anyway. Maybe this member was referring the students. In my old high school, about 50% of the student population was either gay, lesbian, or bisexual. To some it was a fad because they were so astonished by the real ones. And for a quick minute I actually assumed that everyone was bound to be gay by the end of the year. But by seeing that lifestyle so often, certain students were subconsciously taught to accept that lifestyle.

I didn't see the response, but I think schools are teaching things that promote homosexuality. For example some are teaching that people are born that way, or that it is normal. Since it is not uncommon for adolescents to question their masculinity or femininity, the late bloomer might wonder it he or she was "born gay". Experimentation may reinforce this mistaken belief.
In the above hypothetical, whether the schools taught him/her to be homosexual is just a matter of semantics. Clearly, what was taught had an impact.

What they are really complaining about is that schools may be teaching tolerance, and the concept that homosexuality is acceptable.
If, as the religious right perfers think, homosexuality is 'contagious', then they might be right.
As it is, they are simply ignorant. No amount of common sense or education is going to change their minds.
The ironic thing of course, is that their anger and bigotry is wielded in the name of Jesus, a man who preached love and tolerance.
As to your attraction to little Suzy across the street, perhaps it WOULD be better if you found old Bob attractive. You scare me dude...
hehehe...

I'm straight but I know that nature plays tricks on humans when they are born, so no one can ever "teach" someone to be a homosexual. Maybe you should find that Q&A response from the person who said it was taught in school and see if you can contact them for the info you seek.

Sex ED is what they are probably referring to . in which the subject of same sex acts may be brought up. Most people are Bi- sexual to start with. and at the start of sexual feelings alot of people of both sexes feel more comfortable trying it out with someone of the same sex as the equipment is the same for awhile until they do a flip latter in life.most by the time they finish high school.they flip flop between girls liking boys but boys not liking girls and the other way around. back and forth for a while. until they met in the middle with an uneasy truce.
60+ myself.

Trying to remember if Sister Agatha way back in 3rd grade taught us how to be homosexual.... nope, can't say she did :-D
People aren't taught to be gay or straight. Besides, the schools here aren't teaching kids anything these days, but that's beside the point...

First of all by teaching that those people who possibly do lean towards the same sex that it is completely natural and that they were born that way.
Secondly by teaching all of us are descended from animals and that therefore their is no moral reason why they should not be a homosexual.
