If I had the temp.cap put on Monday if I needed a root canal could the Doctor have seen that when he was drilling down the tooth before he put the temp. cap on?

No, the doc could not "see when he was drilling" that tooth did or did not need root canal treatment. If he drilled into the pulp chamber (the hollow part in the middle of your tooth), he'd be able to say, "There. Look at that. You need a root canal." Otherwise, he would not know by the physical evidence. It would take your reports of discomfort and possibly an x-ray to know.

The problem, which you did not really specify, could be a high temporary crown, a short margin on the temp crown, or - you could need a root canal.

the doc could have seen that you needed a root canal maybe...

I suspect that you are having sensitivity? Try the sensitivity toothpaste. You can get it at the dollar store instead of paying $4 for it at Walmart. As long as it has potassium nitrate in it, you're good.

i had a temporary cap put on one of my teeth...the dentist was seeing if everything was going to "calm down" or if i needed a root canal....i began having problems with it, and instead of having the root canal, i just had him pull it...(it was near the back, so you can't see it)

I agree w/ Dr. Sam 100%. Ihave been a dental asst. for 21 yrs. and i've seen this many times. May I ask why you needed a crown in the first place?
