Liquin is a fast-drying medium which is added to oil paint to make it dry faster - it is not to be used on its own. If Mom used oil paint, she would have wanted the paint to cure - 6 to 12 months - before applying a final varnish.

If the paintings have been stored and look clean, they can be dusted lightly with a damp cloth and let to dry, then a coat or two of Dammar varnish can be applied to protect them. If they appear soiled, you may want to have them professionally cleaned before varnishing. You can also use a good quality spray varnish such as Krylon Kammar or Golden MSA varnish. Please don't use Liquin!

If the paintings are acrylics, you can clean them the same way, and varnish using Kammar or MSA - but DO NOT use Dammar.

Enjoy your treasure!

take them to a professional. try contacting your local museum they can direct you to someone who can restore/preserve paintings. DO NOT TRY TO DO IT YOURSELF, if you ruin them you'll never forgive yourself. and age in paintings makes them more valuable.
