Well,I don,t know what to think anymore. When the kids get rubbish to eat at school we quite rightly complain and then you get these mothers undoing what the goverment , Jamie Oliver and a lot of other parents are trying to do to get kids to eat better.I get so frustrated over it and I am sure other people are too.How are we going to get them to eat better as it is hard enough anyway without these people putting a spanner in the works. I am sure no one minds kids having a treat now and then but it is ridiculous the crap they eat. I know as I have 2 kids and it is hard enough to get them to eat sensibly . Good on Jamie and everyone else who are trying to do the best they can. Don't let these people put you off, in fact let us work even harder to get things right!

Well that depends are you talking about a burger made at home with some potato chips sometimes during the summer? Or parents that constantly buy their kids MCDonalds?

I'm guilty of making my own hamburgers for dinner sometimes during the summer months. I only serve the with chips if we are reheating the burgers for lunch the next day.

My son has never had any fastfood(ever) When we go out to the mall we get food from a Japanese place (not a chain) that makes their food fresh with real ingrediants.

I have Supersize Me on DVD. One of the reason why I make sure my son and future kids don't eat any fastfood junk.

It's no wonder kids are such delinquents with parents like that! The school has tried to improve the kids diet by refusing to allow them off the premises at lunchtime, why can't the parents respect the decision the school has made which is obviously in the best interests of the kids.

These parents should be made to cook the school meals for a while, and participate in Honey we're killing the kids, maybe then they will get an idea of what they are really doing to their kids health.

Theres nothing wrong with junk now and again but these parents should NOT be allowed to fetch orders of chips etc from the school gates.
I for one would be furious if I was a parent trying to educate my child and some other mums were feeding them junk from the school gates without my permission.
The school should arrange to have them arrested at the school gates.

I somewhat agree with you --some people don't teach "no."
I love potato chips and my doritos and burgers. Overall, I think it's a shame that those foods are unhealthy. That's as far as I'll say because it all factors down to one thing: being a parent is supposed to be hard work & if chips and burgers can help you out once in a while, there's nothing wrong with that.

Well, if they feed this kind of stuff to them all the time--yes I agree.
But a good burger once in a while--if you have to do a lot of running that day --won't hurt.
But not a steady diet of that. My kids were raised to enjoy veggies and lots of healthy good tasting snacks. So the not so healthy stuff like burgers at Micky D's, or ice cream, soda, etc. became a once in a while special treat.

YES THEY ARE.OK now and again as a treat but your spot on this is way too much.would be difficult to charge them with anything though.guess we will have to rely upon education to beat this.I mean through the TV not the schools they have enough to do and the children watch more TV than the time they spend learning at school.

I know a lot of parents like that. It's sad. Not only do they feed their kids garbage but then they don't even eat it together. The kids take it to there rooms and eat with their head phones on to escape the sound of the family. This is the true meaning of dysfunctional family.

Yesssssssssssssss!!!

ABSOLUTELY....on top of which, they seem not to get any exercise, least wise not in England, it seems, sat in front of PCs or TVs, The parents that fill their kids up with that rubbish are rarely the type to take their kids to football swimming clubs or anything of that type either. What a future, anyone see HONEY WE ARE KILLING THE KIDS???? These children appear very unhappy much less unhealthy!

children need calories they burn them by growing a child cant grow up on a sprout and a lettuce leaf they need loads of calories and loads of old fashioned exercise (playing out)going from 1 extreme to the other is just as unhealthy what your looking for is a balanced diet if they like burger and chips give them salad with it and fruit for a desert and a reason ale amount of sweet stuff is OK as well they're kids kids love that stuff you cant rob them of their childhood
