Someone has to be "godly to consult with God"? God said come let us reason together, says the Lord, though your sins be as scarlet, it shall be as wool, though it be like crimson, it shall be white as snow. Can you determine the state of a man's soul? Are you trying to be God. Doesn't Catholic falls under the 'Christian Religion', so then the word Catholic is only a "brand name". The Pope can consult with anyone he sees fit. Who you think the Pope is, is he bigger or better than any other human being? God judge the heart of a man not the outward appearance as you think. I am so glad that you are not God.

Pope Benedict is also a Head-of-State, not to mention between him and the Muslim world we're talking about 2/3s of the Earth's population to deal with diplomatically.
A little feedback and insight from the Pope on the world diplomacy stage could be a good thing.

It is not necessary to be Catholic to have faith in God. The same way Mr. Bush does not need to be Catholic to ask for advice to a wise man as our Holy Pope.

He is a politician. Everything for him is matter of business, not faith.
The Pope is the leader of millions. Bush is trying to get some empathy with those millions.

It's called diplomacy and interaction between heads of state. Bush actually wants peace and freedom for all, but believes that those who will kill to impose their own beliefs can only be stopped by killing them. I don't know if it is the only way.... I tend to believe that if we truly repented and trusted God, He would take care of us. But He might let us be martyred as well, and some are not ready to die... even for God. It is a very complicated issue in my opinion. But I believe there is good intent in Bush's heart.

Because it isn't about religion. It's about power. By showing himself close to a sadly respected head of state, he hopes he can get some support from those who support the pope.

I talk to people that arent Christians. Theres no law that says that GWB cant talk to people. We live in a free country. The fact is it is good for world leaders to get together and talk, who knows! Something may happen!
