It's just society's standard today. People used to be getting married at 13 or 14, and many of these people were very happy. Truly, there is nearly no difference, except for the ones we imagine up for ourselves. The legality, the "adulthood", the maturity, the freedom. All just side effects of a standard placed on us my modern society.

The law. I think they call 17 and under jailbait. Plus, 17 yr olds are still girls, even 18 yr olds often are girls. But a 20 something male is a MAN, with a man's needs etc. And no girl should have to deal with that.
I know a 24-25 yr old guy who was dating a 17 yr old. He seemed like a great guy, but that was icky to me.

Other countries have lower legal ages, like 16 or even lower.
I wish I lived in another country.
Even the drinking age in america is higher than ANYWHERE else.

because if you're 18/ over and you have sex with a chick that's 17, you'll go to jail and be labeled a sexual offender.
