Have you ever read the Qur'an? If not, then you don't have any right to complain about what the pope did.

1. What he quoted was absolutely true. Now, you can't deny it because violence is written all over the Qur'an. Check it out yourself for more.

"Fight those who do not . . . follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book (that is, Jews and Christians), until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection" (Q 9:29).

"slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them" (Q 9:5).

2. The truth must never be compromised. That's the christian way. What did you think the Apostles would've said themselves about Islam and it's inclination to violence?

The pope does see all people as God's children but that's immaterial because his comments would stand correct wether Muslims are children of God or not. The issue was about the Koranic teaching of violence not about Muslims themselves.

The problem is that Muslims are not Gods children. According to Jesus (John 5), Gods children are those that believe in him. Muslims dont believe Jesus is the Son of God therefore they are figuratively sons of the devil.

The Pope is conservative and finally taking a stand against an old enemy the Catholic Church has had that hasnt gone away. Read any book about war and see if it is wise to ignore your enemies. You cant appease evil like John Paul did (by kissing the Quran for Muslims to see) you have to take as tand against it and call it for what it is---EVIL!!!

I've read a lot about the pope saying something offensive to Muslims, but I still don't know what exactly it was. Anyway, what can you expect from a guy who was an active member of the Nazi regime?

Even though his comments were inappropriate, we must face the fact that the Pope is always right according to our Catholic dogmas.

I'm with you!! I have to confess im a Catholic, and I respect all religions. I have one friend who is atheist, two muslims and one protestant, i don't have any problem wiht them. Sometimes the authorities of the Church talk as if you were sopporting them, but they talk what they think, not we belive.:)

He shouldn't have done something like that, as fractious and fanatical as they are.
He should have thought ahead and considered how the nuts would have taken it.
