as a Muslim, I try to "verbally" correct if someone has a misunderstanding about my religion, if they do not understand then I quietly move on, peace to you all

It's not so much about what the Pope thinks about them as it is an insult to their God. If a Muslim were to make comments about Jesus like the Pope did then the entire Christian world would be in an uproar. Their religion and their God is the most important thing in their lives and to have someone come out and condemn it is offensive. Not to mention the fact that Muslims are being persecuted and ostracized for what a few radicals have done. They are all suffering the consequences of Bin Laden's actions and that is not fair. I believe I would be extremely sensitive if I were a Muslim in this day and time.

A moderate within the many Muslim nations (or living outside) like "Salmon Rushdie" ... and like many uncensused moderates living in many muslim states ... will not have the volatile reaction that the fundies have ...
"HK3738" ... is a rather clear example of that here ...
The current exacerbated world stage and medias are all playing to , and further exacerbating the extreme fundy reactions on both sides of the fence ...

I think the Pope's views are inflammatory, even though they probably have an element of truth behind them. And theres the problem......Muslims love to hand out criticism of Jews and other so called infidels, but they cannot take it themselves. Last month in Iran they put on an exhibition celebrating the Holocaust, denying it as usual.....how painfully hurtful is that? But when someone accuses them of starting wars to spread their (false) relgion. they just cant take it. Like sheep they just explode. Great question though.

Because others respect him as a symbol of Christianity. They don't want him saying negative things about Islam because people are crazy and believe everything they hear.

Isn't religion stupid. All of it.

If we weren't so busy trying to convert & kill one another we could actually sit down and talk rationally.

As long as one side thinks the son of God walked on water and raised the dead before bein ressurected and the other side thinks a guy ascended into heaven drawn by chariots to get his virgins we're Fuc*ed.

this silly old man is a RELIGIOUS LEADER of more than 1 billion catholic christian and people take his words literally.

of course we should be concerned we feel like there's a war waged against our beliefs and we should defend the reputation of the great Prophet of God.

it's every Muslim's duty.

I agree with your point of view. However, the Pope does represent and speak for (as in God's mouthpiece) millions of Roman Catholics. His remarks stir up hatred and a willingness to do harm to non Catholics.
One of the characteristics of pathological religion is wanting to do harm to those who do not share their particular brand of superstition.

i don't care what he thinks, he just has no right to talk about the Prophet, regarded by many Historians (like Sir Berard Shaw,Micheal Hart) to name a few, as one of the greatest people whom walked the Earth. Would you let someone tell lies on your wife, mother, father, children... etc
