In the airline industry there is NO SUCH THING AS LAST MINUTE DEAL. Airline tickets are cheapest when purchased 21 to 30 days before you intend to fly. The lowest priced tickets are always sold first so when they are sold the price goes up. Then airlines offer a more expensive fare if you are 14 to 21 days before your flight. And then another price 7 to 14 days before the flight. Once you are within 7 days of the flight you will pay premium prices on all airlines.

Airlines do not have last minute deals. The further out you book the cheaper the fare is. The closer to time of departure, the more the fare goes up. Depending on how quickly the airplane booked up, the fare may be the same that Friday or the following week. The closer time to departure you are going to pay a full fare rather than a discount fare. Fares are broken down into 30 day, 21 day, 14 day, 7 day and 3 day advanced purchase. If the plane fills up, no matter how far out you book you are looking at a full fare. So...book as far out as you possibly can.

It all depends on where to and when. Air routes are no different to trains or buses. Travel in the rush hour and it's expensive, travel outside these times and it gets cheaper. The way prices for seats on aeroplanes are calculated is, perhaps, one of the purest forms of supply and demand. As demand rises, so does the cost. The other factor affecting the cost is how much you want to dictate what you want to do and by how much you are prepared to be told what you can and cannot do. So, how to we apply this to your question?
Well, it's quite simple - You apply one of the basic rules of airline ticket buying, namely: If you have got to be somewhere at a specific time on a specific day, you book as early as you can. If you are flexible about (in order) the time you need to be somewhere, the date you need to be somewhere and lastly where it is you want to be, then you can book it as late as possible.
So, if you really have to be in Madrid, Spain on Monday the 23rd of October at 11:00am, then the sooner you get it booked the better. If you can say: "I just want to go away next week to somewhere in Europe", yes you can leave it until the last minute.

i think u can book ur seat on any higher fare(if a low fare not avlb) and change it to a lower fare when someone cancels. ask ur Travel Agent they will let u know the different fares out in the market.
Some fares are non-refundable although being very cheap so u gotta be careful on that one!
u havent mentioned ur sectors!
