My question is kind of complicated...
-If someone is treated long term with psychiatric medication that is not working and much of this treatment occured during childhood what kind of adverse reactions might it have on the person.
-I am looking for immediate effects
-Long term effects with and without the continuation of the inproper treatment
-Also how well would anybody actually understand the nature of the diagnosis

Suggestion - if long term medication is not working not then you need to tell the prescribing physician. If the physician is not a licenses psychiatrist, go find one.

Nothing is immediate, whether counseling or medication. Basically medication is a milieu/tool to help the person during the time the counseling helps them find the answers.

Diagnosis - you were not specific and that is an open question. Against a good psychiatrist will explain the diagnosis to you or you can read about it at www.webmd.com

All depends on the drug and the diagnosis. The immediate affects will be located on the pamphlets given with the meds by the pharmacist. Long term affects also are on these. The diagnosis if it was wrong well I hate to think what kind of long term affects that might have on someone. Seek another profesional for help
