I gave my kids a pillow around a year old. .. By that time they are able to move around freely. But, I would offer a travel size pillow. It is a better fit for the little ones.

I am a mother of 3 and my doctor told me that you shouldnt put a pillow in the crib at all. When the child is old enough to move to a toddler bed, then they are old enough to have a pillow. I have noticed that my youngest son (13 months and sleeping in a big boy bed) doesnt even use a pillow, it usually ends up on the floor. So, I guess maybe when they can ask for it then they can have it. Im sure most children that dont have pillows probably dont miss not having one.

There's really no reason a child needs a pillow in the crib. Our kids didn't get one until they went into a toddler bed, as per the pediatrician's advice.

If you must use a pillow, buy a toddler one. They're small and a lot less fluffy than adult ones.

You are asking ,at what age do you introduce a pillow to your child of a yr. and a half at bedtime? I have always made my children their own pillows and they always slept with one at a yr. old. Which I think it's an ideal age for their own pillow, but always check your daughter if she moves around a lot.

I'd wait until she's 2. A small blanket is ok. But if you do get one, choose a very small one. My Dr. said no Blanket or Pillow until 2; but I gave my daughter a small blankie @ 1.5. Now that she is 2, I let her sleep with the toddler quilt . . .

My son is almost 19 months old, I let him have a pillow at like 8 or 9 months old. Once he saw that I slept with a pillow, it was kinda hard to not let him have one. As long as you feel she won't smother herself, I think it's ok to let her have a pillow.
