Yes it can get parvo between it's first and second vaccine if it is exposed to it. Also getting the second vaccine needs to be done within 4 weeks of the first one. If time has lapsed between the 1st and 2nd vaccine then you will need to start the series over again.
There is a series of 3 vaccinations..they need to be done at 8 weeks, 12 weeks & 16 weeks of age. Vaccinations done before the age of 8 weeks can interfer with the puppies natural immunity that it aquired from it's mother and can void out the vaccine or can cause problems/reactions.

Yes, a puppy is supposed to have three shots by the time they are 14 weeks. Even after the shot a puppy can still get parvo. Best thing to do is to keep it away from other puppies or dogs under he age of two that may have or may have been exposed to the parvo virus.

Yes they can
The determining factors are how old is the puppy,and how long has it been since it nursed from it's mother;

While the puppy is nursing it is protected by it's mothers immune system. After the pup is weened it takes a while for it's mothers immune system to shut down in the pup, and that time frame varries greatly from pup to pup. Any shot given to the puppy before it's mothers immune system shuts down is simply distroyed by the mothers immune system.
So in order to minimize the time the puppy will be vurnable these shots are given in a series, but it will only be one of the shots in the series that actually inoculates the puppy,,,,,,,,,,, just never know which one it was.

Yes, especially since you may be WAY overdue for the second one!!!! Unless it was done within the last month, it is overdue!!!
Start the series over and treat the dog as if it is not vaccinated and keep it away from public places like you would a puppy. Ask the vet for more info on the dogs possible immunity.

YES THEY CAN!!
My black lab puppy just experienced this. He had 2 sets of shots and a week after his 2nd set, he came down w/Parvo. He's very fortunate. He spent 5 days in the hospital with an IV and antibiotics in him. He even went into a relapse. The vet said he's very fortunate. Please, be very careful. This pup of yours should have already had all of it's shots; the previous owners were very neglectful and that being said, there is no telling what else he was exposed to.
Good luck.

The puppy should have had ALL of his shots by now. Keep an eye on the pup, if he has been exposed to parvo he CAN get it. Also, depending on how long it's been since he's had his last vaccine, your vet will probably reccommend starting the series from scratch. Good Luck

Absolutely!!! First shots only introduce the body to the virus so when you give the booster the body recognizes it and starts to build immunity. Also, if the first shot was given a long time ago ( more than 3-4 weeks) it is gone and has done no good at all.

Yes, even after the series of shots are complete, it is the same as baby vaccinations, it protects them to some extent, and if they do get Parvo it usually is a milder case. Just make sure you keep all vaccines up to date. Good Luck

Parvo is a serious disease. You have to take your chances. I believe I may have lost puppies before because of the shots, but I still get them....

until the puppy is fully vaccinated there is a chance that it can catch parvo. consult your vet about precautions to take to reduce the risk
