If you aren't the one driving you can use a stress ball. That might help you relax. Take deep breaths and I agree with the first answer...pray.

Distracting yourself in any way, shape or form while you are driving is precisely what you do not want to do.. Work on being aware of everything around you at all times. Don't eat, drink, sleep, talk on the cell phone or even put on lipstick while you are driving. Practice. Get plenty of rest, Never drive while you are on prescription medication which makes you drowsy.

Do you feel like you're having a panic attack? I get them while driving, and haven't driven on a highway since 1994. I wish I had an answer for you. Maybe listen to talk radio? Definitely don't talk on the phone, that just makes it worse.
Good luck.

I would recommend classical music, it tends to have a calming effect on the mind. As far as your fear goes, confront it. Drive around familiar areas, then try some unfamiliar areas or types of roads you're not used to. As long as you keep your wits about you, and are aware of your surroundings at all times, you'll be fine.

sweetie....i know you have probably heard this line before, but you just need to talk to someone.....maybe you need to find out what is causing you to feel this way.......sometimes an accident, fear of getting more tickets, or lack of experience around other drives you don't trust can lead to mild anxiety.....they can give some non medicinal cures like relaxation exercise to help get through it.....there are a lot of people who go through this....you should see me these days before i get on a plane......

You should need a comapnion while driving. It will help a lot to make you feel comfortable. Be safe and cool.

If it's just fear, it will evaporate if you stay inside the fear, and not hide.
If it persists... perhaps you should trust your feelings and not try to ignore.
