Gimme a break, you let the dog run free, which puts your dog at risk as well as everything it comes in contact with! Do you REALLY need the answer to this? You are responsible for everything the dog does, just as much as you'd be responsible for everything your child does! Why do you let the dog run free? Don't you care if it gets hit by a car? Poisoned by some idiot? Stolen? Abused? Taken in by someone more responsible than you that decides to keep it? I have two German Shepherds that the owner lets run loose and they pull my trash out of the bins, **** in my yard and harass my dogs who are in their yard minding their own business.

YOU always let YOUR dog run free now it attacked the neighbors pet rat and killed it, IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT.
OBEY THE LAWS. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR PET AT ALL TIMES. IF YOU CAN'T TAKE BETTER CARE AND RESPONSIBILIT, YOU DON'T NEED A PET.

almost every town and city has a leash law to prevent attacks and droppings being left every where thats a sign your pets not trained for work or to obey if it roams and gets caught some fines and some court time might mean you start thinking of this animal as a important part of your life so walk the dog and pick up the feces and train it to heel theres dog training books with pictures at the library

You should keep ur dog on a leash, what if it attacked a child, dogs can be very intimidating to a lot of people, keep it on a leash, ofcourse its ur fault, if I had a pet tiger and let it run free and it killed and ate ur dog is that my fault? Use ur brain if u got one!

According to the law, you are legally responeible for the dog. Its like having a child in a store. If he breaks something you have to pay for it. My brother was once attacked by 2 dogs at the same time and the owner was held responsible

You let the dog run free. Honestly, I do kind of wonder what the rat was doing out where your dog could find it. But if the dog is yours, you should be able to control it.

If you let your child run free and it gets run over by a cement truck, is it the trucks fault? If your dog runs next door and kills your sister's 2 yr old, then what?

As the owner of a pet, you are responsible for what it does. Also, the fact that you always let it run free does not exempt you from any leash laws that may be in effect where you live.

The same way it would be your fault if YOUR dog killed a neighbor's child. It is YOUR dog. You are required to control YOUR dog. I can't make is any simpler for you.
