He is obsessed with sniffing and humping her any chance he gets. If he is sitting in the same room with her and she gets up, he is up in a flash running over there and sticking his nose up her skirt, desperately trying to sniff her. It's disgusting. And he is always trying to hump her. He knows I will yell at him so he waits until I am out of the room and then I hear her yelling/squealing and I go in and he is full bore trying to hump her. I am at my wits end! He rarely does this to my two boys ages 4 and 6. Does he "know" she's a female or something? Why does he do this? How can I stop this?

he can smell her and also he can tell shes important to you you are the pack leader for this dog roll him over and hold him down for a minute every day if you cant then he is trying to establish dominance over the child and you the boys have been rough with the dog or he would hump them also so use a paper to roll and smack his nose when he does that so he associates the pain with the activity theres trainers in the phone book or a dog manual at the library to show ways to retrain bad behaviors

He has become dominant over your little girl. Your daughter is weak in his eyes and she wont be able to correct him at this age and your dog knows this. If he is not neutered, please do so. This may help but not always. You need to start by keeping the dog off the couches, beds etc. Put a bed of his own on the floor. Dogs will always try to be taller when they are dominant. That's why you need to be taller and he needs to be on the floor. This way the little girt has a safe place to go to (on the couch) without being intruded on. You have to also make sure that you are dominant over him. If you lay him on his side and you lay on top of him until he stops moving then say "Good dog". Every time you do this you are showing dominance over him. But the best thing to do is to have your dog evaluated by a dog behaviorist to see exactly what the problem is and the correct measures to fix it. Good luck on the training!

I easily have a puppy and he or she is 5 months previous. Her vet suggested that she all started her cycle VERY early on the grounds that maximum do not initiate till between 6 months to a three hundred and sixty 5 days. The Vet suggested that all male canines might want to stay faraway from her and he or she might want to stay faraway from them. She has an appt to be fixed the day before Thanksgiving. My roommate has a 5 year previous canines who's continually attempting to hump her and it annoys me on the grounds that she is so youthful. My roommate says, the male canines is fixed and may want to't get my puppy pregnant. i say i do not care because she's in basic terms a puppy! I in basic terms prefer to entice close what maximum folk imagine about this... Am I being too overprotective of my puppy? It makes me disillusioned that my roommate thinks its humorous even as her canines does that to my canines and that i think like she'll enable him try this once i'm not round. Huh :D

A large dog dominates over a small dog. A strong dog dominates over young immature dogs of about the same strength. The humping only means ur dog feels dominance over your 5 yr. old. He can tell she is immature.

Dogs are not sexual creatures. The "humping" behavior is almost always started as a dominance thing. It does have a tendancy to become a bad habit. You need to work with your dog and teach him that he is not an alpha member of the pack, and your kids are. Please seek the advise of a behaviorist before someone gets hurt.

I had a poodle name Chico, and whenever my boyfriend come over to see me, he humps him all the time. Chico might be gay, came to think of it. your dog is straight because he goes after females...lol I found him a female dog his age that he can have fun with and we go together on walks too. theres nothing wrong with the dog. just let him hang out with other dogs

You need to get control of your dog. It cannot be healthy mentally for your daughter to be treated that way by your dog. I would keep them seperated and only have them in the same room when you can be close to her side. You need to find some way to stop his behavior. If he isn't neutered, I would start with that.

Is he neutered? If not get it done, then go to obedience classes or hire a trainer. Your dog needs to learn that you are in charge and that this behaviour is unacceptable.

there are several reasons this occurs. you didnt specify how old you dog was or if he was neutered. it can be an expression of dominance, it can also be an initiation of play. or just downright sexual frustration, with your daughter being the main object of displaying this frustration.
