i've been playing golf for quite sometime and i'm slowly getting better each game. I still slice a little bit but not as bad. I was once told that the brand or type of ball you use could be a factor in it also. I just want to know if that is true?

While it's true that your swing is the primar culprit, a 'high spin' ball will exagerate a slice. Try using a lower spin ball and your shots will stay a bit straighter.

Well yes it is true that some balls react more to to the spin the player imparts on the ball than others just like some clubs produce More slice that others (I.e. the 9 iron vs the driver). The ball is probably the least of your problems. You need to have an inside out swing and square the club prior to contact. Make sure you do the following:
The swing must be from the inside the fist move must be down not out. (keep the ball more forward in your stance.)
The tempo must be smooth, do not over swing (slow down) and release the club.
Loosen the grip, in fact make sure the left hand is more firm than the right.
NOW let me know when you need help with the Hook you are about to develop.

For all golfers. "its the indian not the arrow" dont ever blame ur equipment. A clean golf ball, and tacky grips, softspikes with tips still on them. Otherwise it is your swing.

A ball that adds more spin, can actually add the the slice.

the poor ball is only reacting to the forces that acted upon it.
